Subject:Noise Red. 2 NOT included with SF8 upgrade?
Date:9/1/2008 4:11:24 PM

I had one copy of sound forge (v. 5). Then, a client asked me to buy them a copy of Sound forge. I bought them a new copy, and upgraded my old one to version 8 so that we could work together better.

They got Noise Reduction 2 with the new version. I did not get it with my upgrade. Since we are working together to digitize old cassette recordings, Noise reduction would be really nice. It seems I can't get noise reduction without buying it new... is this true?

Strange. I upgraded from 7 to 8 and got Noise Reduction as part of the upgrade install. I didn't have to install anything else, it was just there automatically. Might be a good question for customer service.

Initially earlier versions of SF normally did not come bungled with NR-2.0. I don't recall when it became included at no extra cost. I think it was 7 or 8.
Indeed, a good question for customer service. Give em' a call, they are usually very attentive.

Now that i think of it, it might have been a limited time offer. I don't know for sure, but i do remember getting Noise Reduction 2 bundled free with Sound Forge 6 during the initial 30 day release period. After that it wasn't bundled anymore. That might be the case here too, but i'm just guessing.

I bought a boxed full version of SF 8.0 and it did not include NR. I thought NR was only included with SF 9.0.

Thank you, Cheinworks, rraud, and nolonemo. I will certainly talk to customer service... who knows, they may be willing to help! It is good to hear that they are pretty good, as I had low expectations once sonic Foundry was purchased by the big "S".

Come to think of it, I also thought that version 8 would be my last upgrade. I didn't need another multitrack DAW, I use SF for its surgical stereo/mono editing. But these forums seem pretty good. I'll lurk a while and learn...
