A Grand Piano VST plugin is going to be a VST instrument (VSTi), not a VST effect (VST FX, or just VST).

Neither VMS nor SF deal with MIDI so they are not able to use VST instruments, though they can use VST effects.

Acid Music Studio does deal in MIDI (as well as audio) and it has support for VST instruments (although it does not allow automation). Acid Pro has full support for VST instruments, including automation. If you have either of the Acid products you should be able to use your Grand Piano VSTi in them.
