2 Monitors - Drop Down Undo/Redo Menu?

Grazie wrote on 10/2/2008, 2:42 AM
When I have DVDA5 spread over 2 monitors, the Drop-Down Undo/Redo text info appears on my second monitor! Firstly I couldn't locate the text but then secondly, there it was a whole screen away from the Undo/Redo Icons!? Oh BTW this is true for DVDA4 too.

This is NOT the case with Vegas. When I have Vegas spread over 2 monitors the Drop-Down text menus for Undo/Redo appear next to the Icons.

Please confirm.

Grazie,

XP SP2
DVDA 5

I undocked various parts and placed them on both the primary (1) and secondary (2) screens. I placed the main window on 1 then 2. I swapped the orientation of the 1 and 2 screens (primary on the right, primary on the left.)

In all cases, the drop down text box remained anchored to the Undo/Redo icon. Sorry, I can't confirm for you.

Sorry Kevin. I should have said STRETCHED over 2 monitors. I have Vegas stretched over 2 monitors and I DON'T get this issue.

Please try stretching DVDA5 OVER your 2 monitors.

Apologies again ..

"Geez, that must've driven you batty. ;)"

'cept I'm there already - so didn't matter!!

But it is weird that it is NOT present in Vegas?

Thanks for confirming.

No worries.

I can confirm this happens when I stretch DVDA 5 over the two monitors. I played around with it for a while and here is what happened on my machine:

I opened an untilted project that has the default blue background and "Menu 1" as the title. As long as the split between the two monitors is to the right side of the "e" in "menu," the text list box stays anchored to the icon. As soon as the split gets somewhere around the left half of the "e" / right edge of the "M," the text list box is no longer anchored to the icon.

This should be reproducible on other systems by using the defaults as I have. My monitors are set up as Primary on the right and Secondary on the left.

Frustrating, indeed. As for the batty part, I'm not qualified to comment (something about a pot and a kettle...)
