Is it possible to save a file in the following format? Everything is fine other than the Data Rate, which I cannot get below 64kbps. Audio Format: PCM Average Data Rate: 8.00kb/second Sample Rate: 8.00kHz Audio Sample Size: 8bit Channels: 1(mono) |

The PCM data rate, also called bitrate (Kilobits/sec) is arrived at by multiplying the Sample Rate x Bit Depth x Number of Channels So, 8 x 8 x 1 = 64 Kbs That is not quite the same as setting the data rate for compressed file formats like mp3. What you responded with is what I thought too, I unfortunately have a customer who subscribes to different laws of physics than the rest of us:-) I'm thankful to hear someone else agrees with me. Thanks! |

PCM is an uncompressed format. Your customer is thinking of other formats, where compression is also a factor. |

64kbps means 64000 bits per second. I'm guessing that your customer is confusing bits with bytes. 64kbps would be 8kBps (where b means bit and B means Byte). Mark Message last edited on11/28/2008 9:06:35 AM byMarkWWW. |
