Crash when dealing with MPEG-2 Video

Aargh...this is driving me nuts. When I drag in more than a certain number of MPEG-2 videos (MPEG-PES), Vegas craps out on me. Is there any hope? I reeeally need to be able to edit MPEG-2 video. With the amount of time Vegas has had behind it, I'm quite surprised it's stumbling on simple MPEG-2 video.

How many is "a certain number" of MPEG-2 files? This was a problem with Vegas Pro, and they made some changes in Vegas Pro 8.0c, as it states in the readme: "Improved the number of MPEG-2 clips that can be active on a timeline."

It's best to open a support case with SCS and let them know about the issue. As a workaround, if you're using short scene-split clips, then try to load larger unsplit files...that may reduce the number of clips on the timeline and help get your project out the door.

Just tested to see how many clips I could add. On the 83rd clip I dropped, vegas crashed. Each clip is about 1-3 mb's. On the 81st and 82nd, I received a message on each telling me that "none of the clips dropped into vegas could be opened."

Thanks for the additional info. So, it's definitely worth opening a support case with SCS. And is the workaround I suggested an option for you?

Have not tried it yet but I imagine it should work fine. I need to figure out how to concatenate all of my videos into one first.
