Subject:Using Vocal Eraser correctly

I want to remove vocals from music tracks without distorting the quality of the music in the background, but I am mystified by the choices when the vocal erase dialogue box loads.

There are 5 choices under preset. Then there's suppression, vocal panning and stereo width sliders. Vocal type, quality and method choices, with two tick boxes on the side for Bypass and Real-time.

To be honest, I haven't got a clue how to use this facility to achieve the vocal removal and the get help section doesn't cover this aspect.

Is there any one out there that can help explain the best route to use this facility please?

Many thanks

Andy

Well, the first thing to understand is that your wish is simply impossible and you're never going to get it. Vocal erasing is a pipe dream and can never be done well no matter what. You're always going to have a compromise in which the more of the vocal you remove, the more the music will be affected and mutilated.

However... on songs with a simple vocal stable in the centre of the stereo image, and with minimlal reverb and other spatial processing, a remarkably good partial removal CAN be made.

You could start by reading the Help, if there is any specvific to that tool.

Thanks guys for the response. I have noticed that one simple vocal can be almost removed, multiple vocals leave the whole track distorted.

Cheers
