Here's an interesting crash that I get when trying to use any of the Channel Converter options: (everything else works great in SF 9.0e)

Open any type of file (MP3, wav, etc) file
Edit > Select All
Process > Channel Converter > select any item on the pulldown menu
Click O.K.

I've already been corresponding with Tech Support for the last couple of weeks - no resolution so far.
I think I've uninstalled and reinstalled SF 9.0e 5 times already.
I've run a full MS memory test, hardware tests, registry cleanups, no other applications running, insured that all my drivers on XP SP2 were up to date, etc., and followed the 20 different options with Tech support, all to no avail.
The last version on my machine was SF 7 - which still works perfectly. The Channel Converter functions worked with all versions of 7 (and still do).
It seems like none of the 9.0x versions work with the channel converter. I even reinstalled from CD.

Any clues? (I do only have 512M of RDRAM in the machine - maybe more RAM?)
Thanks,

RAM certainly could be a factor, but a quick glance at the task manager should tell you how close to the ragged edge you are running.

The crash itself occurs right on an SSE2 intrinsic, which your processor appears to support. Please specify your CPU and other relevant system info in the System Specs portion of your profile.

In the meantime, we can at least verify the accuracy of the dump by doing the following:
1) Hold down Ctrl+Shift while selecting Options->Preferences
2) Select the "Internal" tab
3) Type "sse" into the "Show only prefs containing..." edit box at the bottom
4) Change the "Value" column of "Use SSE2 code when available" (you can type in a zero or FALSE).
5) Click Apply, then OK
6) Try Channel Converter
7) Report back here on what happens...

Thanks,
J.

J.,

That did the trick! Channel Converter Presets now work fine.

I was just about to retire this old PC - due to it's still running a 1.5 gHz P4 and using scarce and expensive RDRAM. It's time to anyway.

I've also updated my profile. The last post I had made to the forums was almost 5 years ago....

Thanks again.
