Subject:Audio Level

How do I get my audio to stay within the below specks. I use Vegas 8 pro, SF 9 Pro, Acid 7 Pro netc.

I would like to be able to do it in Vegas.

Peaks: -6db

Valleys: -12db

Compressor. Might work, might not.
