Subject:SF 9 only records on one channel

I've used SF for years with no recording problem, using a headset USB mic.
I just bought a Rode Podcaster USB Mic. Mic installed with no hitch. First time I recorded in SF 9 using the MIc it would only record on the left channel. I have the "new" recording set for 44,100, 16 bits in 2 channels. I get the same one channel result recording in an Mp3 format as well. The mic records in stereo in other audio progrms without a problem.

I run Windows XP service pack 2.

Select,"New" in the record window and re-enter your desired settings. Click the Record tab and check-mark the tracks: 1 (left) ~ 2 (right) on the grid.

That said, The mic is mono, so why would you want to record two channels anyway??? Wave files would be twice as large, "Stereo" (dual-mono) MP3s would have inferior quality than a mono mp3 at the same bit rate.

I need both channels for simplicity. I have an FM radio program and I do voice over and production on my PC. The basic program is prerecorded in remote locations in Stereo and my voice overs need to match. I can work around with the channel converter. I did not realize the Podcaster is a mono mic. I think that's the real issue. I thought the software controlled that.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

The record channel assignment grid is under Options> Preferences> Audio> Record.
In the Record window, ( Ctrl+R) select "Both" in the "Channels" pull down menu.
Sorry for any confusion.

This should send audio to both channels.
