No matter what I try I can never seem to get the correct level and quality of sound when I record from my cdj through to sound forge. I have tried playing around with the levels on many times and I am now wondering if there might be a problem with the sound card on my Toshiba satellite pc. The sound seems to be lower and of less quality with a deeper distorted bass line......please help Thank you |

Can you upload a 30 sec. sample of the recorded file somewhere? |

A cdj is a cd player made by Pioneer that allows you to, in certain models, do things a club dj would do to vinyl (scratching, back-spinning, etc.). At least that's what wikipedia says. That being said, I'd assume the op's computer has a cd or dvd drive to begin with, so why doesn't he use that to rip material from his cd's? And even if he just wants small snippets from a track that can be edited from within Soundforge. Edit for additional material: These things have some huge output on their analog connectors - up to 2 volts but load impedance is not spec'd on Pioneer's site. No wonder the op's getting distorted audio - the Toshiba Satellite's inputs are at mic level and not very good at that (I have a Satellite 1955 for my daw work so I know the machine's capabilities). Ahhh, yes, using the computer's own CD drive and Sound Forge's extract from disc function would be a far superior method. |
