Have you noticed that the default ''save'' extension have changed to .wma with the instalation of Windows Media Encoder? Something similar have hapened recently with Neoplanet (the browser) and Winamp (the player). Both are bitting some Microsoft areas. Or should i say the opposite? SF v4.5d (build 324) |

Of course it is...everything is a microsoft format, but there are a kind of 'public domain' for the earlier stuff. How many progs do you know that use .wma as default? And what about .wav? Much more interesting is knowing that there almost none progs, to interact or decode the .wma extensions. Have i eared monopoly or something...? |

There are many compressed formats, more being developed everyday. The most popular ones get supported by other companies. Any microsoft format will always get supported because it's the most popular operating system. I work for an international electronics company and am an electrical engineer that designs CD mechanisms, we are currently developing mechanisms for cars that will support MP3 playback and .WMA from a CDrom. Any company that would not support a microsoft format, will loose out in the long run. So this is actually a wise decision for SF. |
