Is there a way to change the default behavior in Sound Forge Studio so that new recordings are at a sample rate besides 44.1/16 bit? Does the full Sound Forge product act this way too? |

For me, it's always remembered what i used last and uses that as the default the next time, even after shutdowns and restarts. |

Yeah - I ran through a bunch of sample rate changes on my interface and adjusted SF-Studio to fit. Now the default is stuck at 96k/24-bit! Must be some weirdness somewhere. Message last edited on7/2/2009 9:11:07 PM byTimTyler. |

Sample rate is generally not set by a host program like Soundforge, Sonar, DP, Cubase, etc. Bit depth - yes. Sample rate (the 44.1 KHz) is usually the domain of your sound interface hardware. SF will automatically open at whatever bit depth (the 16/24/32 numbers) of the source material. For example I have Sonar set to render in 32 bit depth. Soundforge opens in that depth automatically and I do my dithering down to 16 bit for CD burn in SF. To the OP, your interface may have locked-up at 96k rate and 24 bit depth and need to be reset somehow. If the manual doesn't tell you how to, try emailing the manufacturer and see if they can help you. Strictly speaking you don't have a SF problem. Edit for additional material: I went to your profile and looked at your system specs and am confused. What you list as a soundcard isn't really a soundcard but an hdmi interface. Not what one would usually use to get audio in and out of a computer. Now I know hdmi is an all-in-one interface protocol for audio and video, but I would suggest if you're serious about your audio that you get a real sound interface, something that is either pci(e), USB 2.0 or firewire. MOTU makes interfaces that fit all 3 categories and there are other manufacturers out there. Jack Message last edited on7/3/2009 3:47:00 AM byjackn2mpu. |

I just updated my forum profile to show the correct interface: an Edirol FA-101. |

Thanks for the tip, Jack. A combination of device resets and SF resets has locked me into 48k/24-bit as desired! |
