I am mastering 24 bit WAV files from a mac and after I do all my processing/reduce the bit rate I save the file and get the following warning - "sound forge warning: an error occurred during the current operation an error occured reading the file. make sure you have read access to the file/folder and that it is not corrupted. An error occurred reading embedded information in xxxxx The embedded information will be ignored." What is this all about? Does this still effect the file being 16 bits, or anything I did to it during mastering? I can still open it up after saving it and burn it onto a disc, but every time I open up the file I mastered I get the warning. Message last edited on7/10/2009 3:17:19 PM byRossd23. |

Have you copied the file onto the PC running SF, or doing it over a network ? Sound like you have embedded info that SF doesn't like in the original WAV. Maybe the original file format is incorrectly implemented from your Mac app. Try before you start editing, in SF "Save As' a new WAV filename (same spec), and work on the new file. Once you solved the error message, there is nothing to stop you saving as 24 or 16 bits, and using the 16 bit version for CD. geoff Message last edited on7/10/2009 4:04:40 PM byGeoff_Wood. |

Whenever I encounter problematic files, I change the extension to ".raw". "Usually", it then opens w/o issue. |

The files are from a disc created on mac. All files are 24 bits WAV format. Even if I copy them onto the PC I am still getting the same errors. The thing is, it let's me save the file as 16 bits and I can burn it onto a CD. It's just, every time I open it up I get that error message, so I'm just wondering if it's having any kind of effect on the file itself. |

Saving it as a .raw file did get rid of the problem. There are some things I don't understand about this, though. What are the options Header Byte order? Do I want little-endian (intel)? I understand everything else and it seems to have worked and gotten rid of the message. Thanks. |
