Subject:Device specified is in use?

When I open a project in Acid 2.0 and go into the effects
tab to select an effect, the playback of the project stops
and a small window pops up saying "The device specified is
in use". This has never happened before and I'm wondering
exactly what "device" Acid is refering to. Also, any
projects that had effects added when created will not
open...I get the same message.

Any know what is causing this?
