Subject:v7.0a not saving files asks to register online

We have had soundforge 7.0a installed on 15 XPSP3 machines used for Postgraduate Student development for some years.

Earlier this week it just stopped allowing users to save files of any size. It continuously prompts to Register Online.

Thanks for any assistance

Well, assuming you have licenses for all of the installs, there's no harm in registering/activating again. Go for it. It will get you back to work.

I registered one and it was fine, can save files again. On trying to get another registered I was told there were too many activations and to try again later... I've tried several times and never get the registration through.

That generally requires a phone call. You call Sony, and they reset your activations count. It's not a hardship.

Just checking, but you did pay for 15 separate licenses, one for each of the computers, right?

To expand - a single user is allowed to install on several different computers and activate all, but ONLY for one installation be be used at any one time. The default is (I think) 4 activations, before a specific request ( and reason) for more is required.

Many other software houses alow only one installation, or intrusive and problematical hardware 'dongles' to operate multiple installs.

Reactivations requests may be triggered after a major OS or hardware change that changes a computer' 'signature' ID.

If there are 15 computers with SF on, all being used, then you require 15 licences (or some special bulk deal - educational ?).
