I've been using the vinyl conversion tool to convert my vinyl to a digital format. It works great for me for the most part, the only problem I have is that it jumps from .wav quality to 192k quality with nothing in between. I need to change this to a High VBR or 320k bit rate. I know that I can 'Leave underlying data open' and do this manually, but I'd like to not have to do that as I've got over 1000 records to convert. Does anyone know how to change the default settings? I'd be happy to edit code if need be. I found a video settings config file but nothing for the audio settings. Ideas? |

You didn't provide us with two vital pieces of information. 1) Which version of Sound Forge are you using? Sound Forge, Sound Forge Audio Studio, or what?? 2) To which format are you trying to render? It is obviously not WAV, since you mentioned bitrate options. MP3, or what is it?? |

Are you geting a little confused between rendering to WAV ( which can be anything up to 192KHz) and MP3 which can have encoding rates up to 320kbps, including 192kbps. They are totally differnt things. Your exact answer depends on which version SF you are using, and your rendering/saving procedure. geoff Message last edited on8/13/2009 8:44:48 PM byGeoff_Wood. |

Audio Studio 9.0d (Build 232) And I'm referring specifically to the Vinyl Recording tool. There are 4 options to choose from when you record at song. -96kbps .mp3 -128kbps .mp3 -192kbps .mp3 -wave audio .wav I know how to save it manually as a higher bitrate, but as I said I've got a ton of vinyl to record, and this can take extra time. I'm trying to find a way to change one of those 4 default choices into: -320kbps .mp3 OR -VBR High Quality .mp3 |

I would record and save all to WAV (44k1, 16 or 2 bit), archive to a DVD-ROM,and then convert to MP3 in a separate process. One day you may feel the need for the best quality. Sorry, not sure of SFAS 9 MP3 encoding/saving procedures and capabilities, but if like SFpro then it will likely rememeber the 'last used'. But if using a 'wizard' you may not get that choice. If you want 'quality' (ie 192kbps isn't good enough) then go WAV. 'Quality' wrt MP3 is a relative thing. geoff Message last edited on8/14/2009 3:28:22 PM byGeoff_Wood. |
