How do I get rid of the re-recording of my music tracks
when I use a microphone to sing along with. I am using
headphones. There is that echo of music on the vocal track.
I am a novice at this. Please keep it simple.

Composer,

You probably have your mixer recording settings set
to "All", or "What U Hear". Instead of recording from just
one input on your sound card, it's recording all of them
simultaneously. Here's what you can do to fix this:

1. Double-click on the little yellow speaker on the lower
right hand side of your screen. It's in the Windows toolar.

2. Click OPTIONS, then PROPERTIES.

3. Click the radio button labeled "RECORDING".

4. Look at the list below. Make sure "LINE-IN"
and/or "MICROPHONE" are checked.

5. Click OK.

6. Now look the channel labeled "MICROPHONE" (assuming your
mic is plugged into the jack labeled "MIC" on your sound
card). Click the SELECT box underneath it so a check mark
appears.

7. Close, record, and smile.

There you go. This should fix your problem. If your input
levels are too low/high, make sure to go back to your mixer
and play with the MICROPHONE slider to adjust the gain. Let
me know if this helps you.

Best wishes,
Nick LaMartina
