I've upgraded to V10 and like the additional tools and i'm still working through much of the new version...one thing i have noticed is that all of my old audio files that are 44100hz/16bit are being displayed as 44100hz/32*bit. I assume that indicates 2 stereo tracks at 16bit, but not sure if this is correct or not. When i open a file recorded at 96000hz/24bit, it is still displayed that way. Any heads up on this?

32*bit. (floating) is the default bit rate of an opened file in SF, always has been AFAIK. It has nothing to do with number of channels as it does with file size. The file should save to it's original bitrate. Why it displays 32, I don't know. Opening a Temp file will display 32.

Could be a bug, i suppose.

Just to get the terminology straight, in "44100/16", 44100 is the sample rate, and 16 is the bit depth. Neither are a "bitrate". The term bitrate comes into play when you save to a compressed format such as .mp3 or .wma, and that specifies how much space will be used to store the compressed data, as in 128Kbps.

thanks for setting me straight! The bit depth always showed up as 16 in the previous versions...it doesn't appear to affect anything that i can tell. Thanks again!

What exactly are these files? FLAC, mp3, compressed .wav?

Are you opening them via another application or directly in Forge?

Can you save a new file to the same file type and format and see the same behavior?
