I'm receiving an error when I edit a track from Cakewalk Sonar 8 in SF 9. It says the ASIO device sample rate cannot be changed because it is in use by another application....which is true, Sonar is still open. The problem is, it doesn't appear that the ASIO settings can be changed from within SoundForge. They're set at 44.1/16. Changing them in audio settings doesn't work. They just revert back to 44.1/16. The audio coming in from Sonar is always going to be 96/24. Is there any way to set the default ASIO settings to that? The ASIO device is MOTU 24i/o, OS is Windows XP SP3. |

Although I use different hardware and software versions than you, the only solution I have found is to render out from Cakewalk / Sonar, close it down, then open the file in Sound Forge, where it should open as rendered. Message last edited on10/7/2009 11:19:23 AM bymusicvid10. |

Sound Forge attempts to open the hardware at the file's sample rate and bit depth. If this doesn't match your Sonar project settings, you're going to run into this unless (a) there's an option in Sonar to release the hardware on loss of focus, or (b) the device supports simultaneous WDM access you switch Forge to Wave Classic.
