I have just installed Sound Forge Pro 10 and it freezes on startup - the status shows it is trying to load ARIA VST - the engine from Garritan. Any ideas? |

For some reason it appears that SF does not like the ARIA VST. I've had issues with other VST's causing a freeze on start-up. As bizarre as it sounds, sometimes changing the name of the plug's *.dll file can clear this up... sometimes not...for instance, change the name to "XXARIA.dll", and/or put it in another folder. If none of the above work you will have to uninstall the plug or delete the *.dll file. |

Is there perhaps a dialog from ARIA floating around somewhere waiting to be dismissed? Forge should time-out and continue after 30 seconds or so, regardless. Are you seeing this? Workaround solution is to temporarily re-name your VST folder, launch Forge, restore the name, and re-scan from prefs. Last-resort solution is to re-name/remove the offending .dlls from your VST folder. J. Message last edited on11/23/2009 7:34:11 AM byForumAdmin. |

Thanks very much for the assistance. By changing the name of the folders, it managed to complete. I was then asked to download and install 10a which I did after renaming the VST folders. The software now loads. And no, there were no hidden dialogs in the background, and it was left frozen (unintentionally) for many hours. |

I can confirm that even SF10a can get stuck on some VST plugins and just sit there dormant indefinitely. There should be a timeout no matter what. Scanning from within the preferences was my solution as well. |
