I`m using soundforge studio and used pitch shift to create a higher sounding voice from a deeper voice, but ends up sounding like a chipmunk... I have no prior audio sound training, but want to create higher and lower voices from a middle voice, but not make it sound like the speech is speeding up, how do I do this and keep the same timing and natural voice? Am I using the right software or can this only be done in soundforge pro? |

There's more to it than just pitch. Read about formants. I don't think any version of SF can do what you want. I use a defunct software called Voice Tweaker, which does allow some tweaking of formants. It usually tunes off-pitch vocals without sounding unnatural. But with, say, octaves, it starts to sound real squirrely. If the voice is buried in a group of voices, sometimes I can get away with it. Message last edited on11/20/2009 2:58:36 AM bySteven Myers. |

Pitch shift is included in Sound Forge Pro, but not in the Studio versions. |

For voice changing, if that's what you're after, what I've read anyway is that developers pretty much stopped writing/including the code for this in their apps/plugins, because it was being used by child predators. You can try pitch shift as already posted, maybe pitch correction soft/hardware, or if you look long/hard enough there are still some novelty type apps available. |

child predators for real? crazy world. I found 2 really good ones with samples and quite amazing, they can speed up and slow down sounds and music, make them higher or lower and still sound natural. p-soft created chronostream2 http://www.psoft.co.jp/en/product/chronostream/index.html and prosoniq.com has timefactory2. this one is around $200 US, chronostream a bit pricier. but the samples were impressive. is it possible to set this up to get instant notification when someone posts to your thread? |
