Boy oh boy there is a brilliant new feature that seems to
be buried deep, deep in the new Beta.

It's the "Adjust Tempo to Match Cursor to Marker" menu item
that appears when you right click on a tempo marker.

I don’t know what you are 'supposed' to use it for, but you
can use it to get ACID to perfectly synchronise to a live
(not played to a click track) piece of music.

[Waving arms about manically] I don't know about you guys
but to me this is an incredibility powerful and valuable
feature.

...After you have recorded or imported your 'live' audio
you have to insert a tempo marker at the start of each bar
of the beat ruler.

Then you have to place the cursor on the first beat of the
first bar of the audio (as opposed to the beat ruler).
Then you have to right click on the corresponding tempo
marker and select 'Adjust Tempo to Match Cursor to Marker'
and voila!

...Did I say voila? ...Well not quite voila...you have to
repeat the above paragraph for every bar in the entire
piece of music....

...It is a little cumbersome (and rather difficult to put
into words) but the results are absolutely magic. You can
suddenly use loops in tracks where it had previously been
impossible to use them.

Is this what the boffins at Sonic Foundry were getting at
when they included this feature?

If so, how about two really simple little tweaks to make
the whole process much, much, much more user friendly?

...By far the most painful part of the exercise is
inserting all those tempo changes. A simple addition to
the Insert Tempo/Key Change dialogue could give you the
option of inserting multiple tempo changes at designated
points over a range of time.

Also there could be a shortcut to the "Adjust Tempo to
Match Cursor to Marker" menu item (Ctrl clicking on a tempo
marker would be absolutely ideal (given that you skip from
bar to bar using Ctrl Right Arrow)). It's a highly
repetitious procedure and little shortcuts like this end up
making a huge difference.

That's all that would need to be tweaked for the really
simple version.

...Although I do have a version in my head that has you
holding down Ctrl + Shift, mousing over a track and the
cursor snapping to beats it finds in that track...

...Any hope at all of any of this being implemented?

...Any hope of anyone understanding a single word I have
written?
