Subject:Recording Soft Synths into Soundforge 10

Is it possible to record a stand alone soft synth such as Absynth 5 or Dimension Pro directly into Soundforge 10? I have an EMU 1616 PCI sound card with PatchMix DSP software mixer with many ins/outs.

I have Soundforge 10 running and Absynth 5 running and I want to play the Absynth 5 via a midi keyboard and have Soundforge record the results. I have all this software working separately but no matter how I try to route the ouput of the soft synth into Soundforge nothing records.

I'm running Windows 7 with no problems.

Sound Forge uses your sound card driver's routing for it's input signal. Go into the Recording Properties screen for your soundcard and choose the soft synth as the recording input. The Playback Properties screen only selects sources for monitoring and won't affect what Sound Forge records.

Thanks for the reply. I have gone into the Recording Properties screen and tried various choices that seem to track to the soft synth (there is no explicit soft synth choice) outputs but nothing works. I don't think Soundforge can share the ASIO driver with other software(such as a soft synth) using the ASIO driver.

Another possibility is the PatchMix DSP mixer that came with my soundcard. It works and produces very clean, low latency results but trying to control this thing with PatchMix is a mystery - terrible documentation.
