OT - Speakers pop at shutdown

I always turn off my Mackie speakers before I shut down. But I have noticed that they pop after shutdown even when they are already powered off, I am not sure if this happens every time. This never happened with my XP machine just on my new win7 64 box, using a delta1010 with 5074 driver. Everything is plugged into a middle atlantic PD-915R power center, I have 2, and those are plugged into fairly a new home electrical service. Any ideas

Jeff

The power supply capacitors continue to power the speakers for a little while after you shut the speakers off. There is nothing unusual about this.

That's why good quality stuff has specail protection circuits to eliminate the pops.

There is nothing wrong with Mackie speakers.

If the thumps really bother you; a) wait a little while longer before you shut off the rest of the system. b) turn off the speakers with something playing through them, this will drain the power supply capacitors more quickly.

Thanks John, I will give that a try. Is the thumping/popping bad for the speakers. Is there something about my new computer that is causing this, As I mentioned I never noticed this happening when the speakers were already turned off.
