Should I uninstall Version 9 before installing the new Version 10? As I recall, I ran into a lot of problems when I tried to install Version 9 directly over Version 8.

Perhaps your problem was that you tried to install "directly over" the old version. Each version is designed to coexist independently of the other versions. Let new new version install where it wants to, in a separate directory, instead of trying to make it install in the old version's directory. They can all coexist happily together. I've had up to 4 different versions all installed at the same time with no issues.

How 'install over' ?

Multiple versions can be installed, and have no interaction between each other.
