Subject:Sound Forge 8 -- recording is distorted

Hi. I am using Sound Forge 8 with a Realtek HD line in from a Marantz tape deck, and whenever I try to record, there is a lot of noise and distortion -- adjusting the input levels does nothing. Previously, this set-up worked fine, and at this point I can record without any distortion or difficulty to both the Windows sound recorder and to the Nero Wave Editor. In addition, when I use Sound Forge to play back previously recorded wav files (all of which play correctly in other programs), I get the same distortion -- it sounds like the computer is under water. Any ideas what might be going on here? I'm assuming it has to do with the configuration of my sound card in Sound Forge itself, since other programs seem to work okay, but I'm stumped. Any help would be much appreciated. Sherry Mayrent |

Hi -- never mind. I went through and reset everything and now it seems to be working. Very mysterious. Thanks anyway. Sherry |

I am curious what you did to reset everything. Were certain settings that might have accidentally been set wrong corrected or did you possibly use an option that is available when the program is started? I forget what that option is right now. |
