Subject:Copying a segment makes it speed up.

When copying a segment of one recording to a new file, I get the message: "The source sample rate is lower than the destination sample rate. This will cause the source data to play faster and sound higher pitched in the destination. Sample rates can be changed while preserving pitch using the Resample function under the Process menu."

And yes, it plays speeded up in the new file. Not sure what or how to resample ... or better yet, how to copy the original segment into a new file without it speeding up!

Why wd it do that? Any help much appreciated!

Hi, if you check file properties (I think alt + enter is the shortcut) or right-click on the timeline to access file properties, you will see the audio sample rate and bit depth for the file. When pasting to a new file these need to be the same or the kind of changes you describe can occur. If you bring up a new file via the file pull down menu then it gives you a chance to set these. I guess your default settings for a new file (ctrl + n) are different from your source file. Hope this helps,

Kit

PS (Not sure if bit depth makes a big difference but sample rate certainly does).
