Subject:Batch Converter can't convert 5.1 streams to AC3

I have the Dolby Digital AC3 Pro converter courtesy of Sony Vegas 9. I have a bunch of 5.1 channel wavs I need to conform and encode to AC3 so Sound Forge's Batch Converter seemed like the logical tool for the job.

The only problem is that it won't convert to anything but stereo. If I convert one file at a time in Sound Forge or Vegas it works fine. This seems to be a limitation of the Batch Converter. Is there something I'm missing? In the AC3 parameters, only stereo (2.0) is available.

Thanks for any help or suggestions. Maybe there's another software that I can use for this?

Sounds like Forge is only accessing the Ac3 "studio" version. Vegas has a batch converter you can run, it's under scripts. Pretty easy, should work with Ac3 "Pro", which Vegas has, which will give you all kinds of customization and some simple 5.1 templates. By the way, if you have Production Assistant (for Vegas) installed it has an even better batch converter. Download the trial if you don't already have it and then you wont have any problems batch converting your ac3 files

I just checked this quickly as you suggested and the pro version seems to work fine. I must of been using the wrong version.

Thanks!
