Subject:SF 10b installer ignores me

Up comes the little menu where I can choose "Install Sound Forge Pro 10(b)". When I click on that option, nothing happens. ('Enter' doesn't work either, nor r-click, nor...) The "Install Noise Reduction 2" option is equally rude, but the "Select Language" option works.

Suggestions? Thanx!

What version of Windows are you running?

Are you running as Administrator? Right-click on the .exe file.

Have you disabled UAC? That means User Account Control.

XP, all the latest service packs, yes I'm an admin. No problems installing previous versions. (I also have Vegas Pro, CD Architect, & DVD Architect Pro installed and working great.)

- Disable any anti-virus/spy-ware apps that may be running. Norton's is long known to cause problems.
- Corrupt installation file? Download a new install file and try again.
- Were the other successful installations done under Service Pack 2? I've read instances of install issues with SP-3.

DID THAT. NO LUCK.

- Corrupt installation file? Download a new install file and try again.

DON'T KNOW. Wouldn't that be a well known issue (on the forums) by this point?

Exact same thing here. Windows 7 Professional. I am Administrator.

Clicked the file to run, no luck. Tried right-clicking the installer and chose "Run as Admin" - no luck. Rebooted in Safe Mode, same thing. The only two menu items that work are Choose Language and Exit.

Ok, I beat into submission.

Windows 7 Professional.

1. Ran the installer (soundforgepro10.0b.exe)
2. It didn't work
3. Searched C:\ for "Sound Forge Pro 10"
4. Found C:\Users\Ed Mullen\AppData\Local\Temp\SonyInstall_1\Sound Forge Pro 10.0\Sound Forge Pro 10.05. Made a copy of the SonyInstall_1 folder and sub-folders and stashed it somewhere else
6. Closed the faulty installer program
7. The installer deletes everything in SonyInstall_1
8. Restored the copy
9. Ran setup.exe

That got it.

Note: I ran C:\Users\Ed Mullen\AppData\Local\Temp\SonyInstall_1\Sound Forge Pro 10.0\Noise Reduction 2.0i\setup.exe and was told Noise Reduction 2 was already installed and to remove the existing version using Add/Remove Programs first. So I did that.

Seems to be working ok.

This worked for me too! BUT I had problems with the version of Microsoft C+++ and would refer anybody else with that problem to this help question which then resolved the problem for me.
