I'm trying to use the noise reduction of a bunch of audiobook mp3's and SF8 destroys all the MP3 tags in the proces, leaving garbage characters as mp3 tags. The noise reduction works fine but all the files are unusable in the mp3 player (Creative Mosaic) after conversion because it plays the files according to the title/album tags! Any ideas or good advice? tnx JimR |

This has been pretty much a perpetual complaint about Sound Forge. It's one of the reasons i have little use for the batch converter. Note that this isn't a batch converter problem, but is actually a problem with Sound Forge itself not preserving tags across a save. The tags have to be reentered, and since there's no way to do this with batch converter i always end up doing every file one at a time so that i can get to the ID tag dialog box. |

Thank you, I was expecting this answer! I am processing a lot of files from audiobooks, trying to reduce tape noise on several hundred files at once. For the search engines: I use MP3TAG (http://www.mp3tag.de/en/) for tag editing, a brilliant piece of free software. Also, MP3GAIN (http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/) for batch volume levelling. JimR |
