Subject:How to mirror/copy voice...

Hi all, I have very limited experience w/ Sound Forge (most of my time is spent on the Vegas Forum), but knew that if something could be done, that someone on this forum would have the skills/knowhow to to it.

Brief description: My mother passed away a couple of months ago and one of my sisters has requested that I make a video of a short Christmas story book that my Mom had narrated for her grandchildren. I will scan in the photos in the book and then add them to her captured voice in Vegas Video and create a video.

Problem: Someone accidentally recorded over the first 15 seconds of the cassette tape from which I captured my audio.

Question: My sisters voice sounds relatively like my Mom's. Is there any way to alter my sister's voice to sound like my Mom's for these first couple of pages? Any suggestions?

Maybe not a do-able task, but worth a shot....

Thank you for your replies and/or suggestions..

That depends on how the voices differ. If it's primarily pitch and speed differences then yes, you can do this in Sound Forge or Vegas. You can even change them independently, just in case you happen to need to make the voice lower and faster, or higher and slower.

If the differences are tonal qualities, sibilance, pronunciation, or that sort of thing then there's not really anything you can do with this software.

Perhaps though it would be better to have your sister practice along with the recording and try to match the voice as closely as possible herself. That way you'll have a lot less work to do afterward.
