Just got SF8, wondering what features it has compared to SF5?

Try downloading the manuals.

We are on SF 10 now, so it's pretty hard to remember all those years ago. SF5 may even have been pre 'non-destruuctive' days....

Yes, 6 was the first non-destructive version. I remember going from 5 to 6 was an incredible speed boost. Edits that used to take minutes now flew by in a blink. That alone made the upgrade worth many times the price.
