Subject:Error after heavy use

After working in Sound Forge 10b for at least 30 minutes I start to get problems when trying to apply effects or a process to an audio wav file. Let's say I have been working in Sound Forge error free for about 30 minutes and I have already edited about 30 wave samples and then I load wave sample 31 and clip a piece out of the sample and "paste to new". I then try to apply normalize on it and an error pops up that says the following: "An error occurred during the current operation. The item was not found." It's almost as if a buffer or something is getting full. I checked my system memory, but it is 80 percent free. This happens no matter which effect or process I choose and any wavs I load thereafter. All samples do the same thing until I restart Sound Forge. Thanks.

Sounds like a memory leak in SF. If it is, the best thing I could say to do is to save often and not just restart SF but actually reboot the computer. That way all buffers are cleaned out and you should be good to go again.

Sounds to me more like a CPU temperature, HDD temperature, or PSU capacity problem.

For me, SF-10 occasionally freezes or displays "Send Error Report" and closes after many processes in both XP and Vista. Saving more often seems to lessen the problem, not to mention the aggravation of losing work. As I recall, there was an issue w/ SF-8. By changing one or two of SF's configuration settings, (not normally displayed) fixed it. I cannot remember what the changes were. SCS advised this on this forum as I recall (ForumAdmin or whoever it was at the time)

That would be a no. This issue definitely relates to the application level. Been a system builder for 20 years and have uber cooling on my system all with high precision thermal sensors on all components with high quality silver thermal compound. PSU is very high end 1200 watt. The hardware is a non issue. Thanks.

.... in which case it should afflict all heavy users ? Or coud be related to a particular plugin ?

I have seen Send Error Report quite a bit when using Noise Reduction plugin and chaning the selection range after capturing the noise print/

You may be on to something here Larry, As I recall, the 'Send Error Report' or application freeze, occurs sometime after using NR, in a chain or otherwise soon after or quite a few minutes after, normally during the process of making several 'surgical' edits and fixes before the occurrence. This happened in SF-8 & 9 as well. Same issue using XP or Vista .
Hopefully SCS will look into this.

Funny you mention that. I was doing quite a bit of noise printing during these sessions. I do not get a lock up though. Just what I described at the top.
