My Acid Pro 2.0 software was working fine until I clicked
on the icon if a music file that I produced and suddenly,
it asked me for the registration number. I put it in and
then it just returned to the desktop setting with no
response. Then I reinstalled it. Suddenly, it was clost 85
percent done and a prompt comes on saying:

You do not have access to make the required system
configuration modifications. Please rerun this modification
from an admonistrators account.

I am an owner of Windows ME, not NT and the software was
working fine until I clicked on that icon. I don''''t even
know if we do even have an administrators account. Please
help. I am very confused and frustrated.

I'm having the exact same problem with Acid Music 2.0
today. Have you discovered a solution to this?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks

That sounds like Windows 2000. I run Windows ME at home and 2000 at work, and I'm the network adminisrtator there, and you don't need an administrator account for ME. What gives?

Was this the first time you ever ran Acid, and do you run any Utilities programs that might require some kind of administrator account to make changes to the registry? I've never heard of this before.

Is this with the latest build of ACID 2.0d, or an earlier version? And do you have an OEM-configured machine? At one time, there was an "Administrator's account" error very similar to this with OEM systems of Win95OSR2.5, which was a special build of Windows only given to OEM vendors--made it very difficult to hunt down a solution. Between ACID 2.0a and ACID 2.0c, this problem was solved for Windows 95OSR2, so be sure you have the latest build (2.0d--168).

It's available from http://www.sonicfoundry.com/download/step1.asp?CatID=2

Hope this helps.

I installed ACID 2.0 English Music 2.0d - #55138
from a purchased CD Version back in April. It was installed on Windows 98 SE OEM version from Compaq, along with the product registration number from the Quick Start Guide. About a month ago, I installed Windows Me (4.90.3000)as an upgrade to Windows 98 SE. ACID was working fine until this weekend. Then suddenly it started to prompt for a registration number. After entering the number, the program just ends. I tried to un-istall ACID, and then re-install it. During the re-install, it displays a dialog box with Error in the title, and with the following text:

You do not have access to make the required
system configuration modifications. Please
rerun this installation from an administrators
account.

This is very strange since Windows Me does not have an
administrators account.

Hello,

That's true that ME doesn't have a admin acct but when you do an upgrade it keeps settings from preveous versions of other Windows.
