Hello,

Your going to get alot of different responces from that question, But I'll tell you what I use and it works great for me.

PIII 800
512 Meg RAM
Creative Sound Blaster Live Platinum
Windows ME
A fast CDROM
At least 7200RPM Hard Drives UDMA66 or Better
I have 2-30Gig, 1-20Gig, and 1-13.6Gig Drives
CDRW, CDROM, DVDROM
ATA66 RAID Config

You also need a good speaker system I use the SP/DIF digital output from the sound card to a RCA 300 watt Dolby Digital Surround Sound Reciever with built in Digital Signal Processing to a 5.1 speaker config.

You need lots of Ram and lots of Storage, And I would stick with Pentium for the CPU because there is better compatability with everything else as opposed to AMD, I build systems and AMD just seems to not go together as well as Pentium systems.

But hey thats just my opinion.

See ya
