Subject:Upgrading to SF10 from SF6

I got a new editing computer at my church and it has Win 7 (32 bit) as the OS on it. I loaded SF6 (legal copy with a serial #) on it but each time I try to run it I get a message that says the software isn't loaded correctly. Sooooooo, I guess it's time to upgrade. I'm worried though that if I buy the upgrade version of SF10 that it won't accept the SF6 installation since it "senses" that it's not loaded correctly. I emailed Sony Support but their database gave me a preliminary answer telling me that SF6 isn't supported on Win 7 and that it is a legacy product that isn't supported by them any longer. I don't even know if the email request went through to them. I don't want support for SF6, I just want to make sure that if I buy the upgrade version of SF10 (which I should be able to do) that it will allow me to install it as an upgrade. Does anybody know if this will be a problem?

Thanks,

Mike

Normally multiple versions of SF can coexist without issue. I would recommend uninstalling SF-6, preferably with a third-party utility like the (free) 'Revo uninstaller', which can remove all traces of a previously installed program.
The Revo portable is Win-7 compatible, not sure about the other free version.

The upgrade to any version of SF doesn't depend on what's installed on your machine. The only thing that the upgrade depends on is what product you have registered with Sony. So if you have a qualifying version of SF registered with Sony when you go to buy the upgrade then you're good to go. When you get SF10 you get a full program not just what's new in SF10.

Actually, I don't think the old version needs to be registered. All you do need is the serial number of a previous version. The old version does not need to be loaded on your machine.
