Subject:Multiple, simultanious tracks?

Quick question .. I've had Sound Forge Studio for years. I've just got a copy of Sound Forge 8 (pro) and, at first glance, it seems to have the same "problem" as the Studio versions.

In any version of Vegas I can have multiple audio tracks that I can adjust individually yet play all at the same time (to render as a file)

I've looked in HELP, but maybe I'm not looking for the right terms. Does the pro version have this capability, or does it just work with a single stereo track at a time?

Single stereo track. Later versions of Pro added the ability to edit multi-CHANNEL files, but not multiple Tracks. So, if you have a single file with 6 channels (eg. left front, right front, left rear, right rear, center dialog, sub frequencies) you can open it in Sound Forge and see all 6 channels. However, they don't behave any differently than the two channels of a stereo track as in you can't edit them independently.*

If you want multitrack then you have to use Vegas or ACID.

*Not entirely true. You can select channels independently. This lets you add effects, cut, copy, paste, fade, etc. on each track independently. But, you can't slice & dice and move around one channel without affecting all of them.

To further clarify, Sound Forge is a multi-channel EDITOR, not a multi-track DAW.
