Anyone out there heard of this problem before. Running an AMDK6/2 350 Processor with 128MB of RAM and plenty of HD space. Been working with Acid Hip/Hop, since Christmas with no problems and lots of progress. Burned my new creations by emailing mp3's to another machine and burning with an HP burner on that machine. Just bought a new Phillips burner and installed in my machine. At the same time, installed a new sound blaster card. Whenever I am working in Acid, when the program accesses the loop cd, my machine crashes. No error, now warning, just a garbled screen, and total hang. Any ideas about a possible conflict? Please help. |

Hello, Check for conflicts in device manager, and also what version of Windows are you running? Look for conflicts on Video and Sound Card and System you might have to go through each one one at a time, don't just look for a yellow icon, check the Resources tab inside each device. |

The machine is running Windows 98 SE, and no obvious conflicts in the device manager, but I will look deeper into like you suggested. |

Hello again, Are you running any Norton Utilities in the background, or does the burner software always have an icon by the clock? Also which model of SB Sound Card? |

Norton Utilites is not installed, and there is an icon next to the clock for the burner utility. The sound card is a Sound Blaster 16 PCI. |

OK, I took out the burner and removed it's software and the problem persists. Is there a conflict between ACID and SoundBlaster 16 PCI cards. There don't appear to be any hardware conflicts, but perhaps the softwares don't like each other. |

Since you say you've been running Acid successfully since Christmas, I don't think the problem lies in that direction. The problem started with the burner install. Maybe changes were made in Windows when you installed, and remained when you uninstalled. As far as the burner goes, is the version of firmware the latest. Usually, if CD-ROM's (burners also) work fine, you leave it alone. In your case I would check. Later... |
