Subject:Crashing re-opening files

I've used Acid 2.0 Music for a few months...no problems. It's still installed, BTW. I've started 3 new, small projects with my newly installed ACID PRO 3.0. 2 of them now I can't open. I've pasted the lion's share of the errors I get below. This is bad. 6 hours of work on two songs, and I can't open them. They opened and closed fine while I was working on them. Note: due to the HORRIBLY AWKWARD change in the "save music with project" file options, both these files get some of their audio from the local folder, and some from CD. The one file I have that works correctly has all it's audio in the folder with it. Any advice would be appreciated.

and on the other one I get:

I started a 4th song last night. I closed and opened it several times with no probs, but apparently as it grew, the problem creeped in, because the last time I closed it, it produced the same type error when re-opened that is listed in my previous post. When this error occurs, everything seems to be going fine while loading the file, it starts to render peaks in the background, then it crashes with the error box. The long and short of it is: the product is unusable - please help.

Basic system info (from my memory - I'm away from the computer at the moment):

PIII-800 256mb ram
Abit board with latest FW (I think)
Soundblaster Live Value
SB Annihilator GeForce GTS vid card
Windows 98 SE

other SF products installed:
Video Factory (has worked flawlessly for months)
Acid Music 2.0 (works perfectly)
SF XP (installed with Acid Pro 3.0)
Vegas audio LE (installed with Acid Pro 3.0)

Here's a weird story.

I use to have all kinds of problems with a couple of projects, particularly one I had done in ACID Pro 2 and brought over to ACID Pro 3. For the life of me, the project could be opened and rendered to something like MP3, but when I went to go play the project within ACID, ACID 3 would crash. I've tried everything from "end tasking" to changing/updating every driver possible.

Then, one day, everything was fine. I don't know what the hell I did. It just worked. *Maybe* it was trying a new video driver for my card (video card drivers cause a large majority of crashes for many users). Or maybe setting the buffer size in ACID higher helped out. When I reinstalled DirectX? When I uninstalled DirectCD? I just don't know.

Hello,

Both of the crashes that you posted have a thread of GUI (Graphic User Interface) and that leads me to think it might be a video problem. But the other thing is I would run all the loops from hard disk instead of CD because Acid 3 demands alot of resources from your computer. So try copying all your loops with the songs and see if that works, and see about an update for your video card.

See ya

Please confirm you have the latest Soundcard drivers- I had problems with this same card until I updated.

I went and got the latest drivers for the SBLive, but still no change. This is driving me crazy. $150 is the most I've ever spent on a piece of software, and it's got the most crippling problem I've ever seen, LOL. Argh. I'm in the middle of a massive Video Factory project, and it's still working great. I also put together a very complex Acid Music 2.0 project to see if I could make it exhibit the same problem, but it just works like always. This problem is definitely unique to Acid 3.0.

It seems my next step is to uninstall all SF programs and start over. Are there any resources relating to "completely" removing and cleaning the registry, or should the standard uninstall that comes with each product do the trick?
