Subject:HELP! Recording problems only in Acid 3 Pro with AWE64...

I've been trying to figure out this problem for the longest time. Here it is:

Everytime I record my guitar in Acid Pro 3 I get distortion... like some sort of hiss/pop... it's very annoying. Now i'm not sure what's causing this, but I presume it's a software problem and not hardware because I can record nicely in Cool Edit Pro v.1_2. Any idea what could be causing this... everything else works fine in Acid... it's just the recording.

I've trie both line in and mic in to record... same thing happens. I'm recording with a phono to mini cable (one end to the guitar the other to the sound card). I'm using an SB AWE64 (ISA) sound card. I have a Pentium II - 350 with 128 RAM. I have a 6 GIG HD which is plenty for what i'm doing.

Any one ever experience this problem ? I've researched this and can't seem to find an answer on any of the Sonic Foundry pages. Any comments would be GREATLY appreciated.

Could be a wimpy processor--Acid hates my lousy Celeron 600 and gives me the same noises, as well as throwing my recordings out of synch with the main track after a while. What a piece of junk.

Hello,

I would switch to a PCI sound card instead of ISA, and make sure your Direct X and Drivers are up to date.

See ya
