Subject:Help using ACID 2.0 w/ other audio programs

My friend plays his songs in ACID, and simultaneously overdubs riffs and records them in Reactor. Many people have told me that you need 2 soundcards for this, but he is only using a single SB LIVE card.

Me on the other hand; When I try this, I get the dreaded "Device Already In Use" error. I'm using the Audiophile 2496 soundcard w/ ACID 2.0.

Any ideas how I might get my software to work together?

Thanks
Disco

Hello,

That's because the SB Live card has an option for selecting how many wave devices you want to use at the same time.

Also if you have a sound card or audio I/O that uses ASIO and Wavedrivers you can run two apps a the same time but one has to be Wave and the other has to be ASIO on different outputs.
Example
I run Acid 3.0 on outputs 1&2 of my MOTU-2408
Native Instruments Pro-52 on outputs 3&4. Reason? so I can track into Acid live keys. Note when doing this make sure that Pro 52 or your ASIO app is set up for ASIO and not Wavedrivers. If you use Acid 3 turn off the midi ports if you plan to use another app that you need to play from a midi keyboard. I know this is a lot but It will save you from buying a sound card that you don't need right now. Don't try this with anything under 128mb and a 800mhz. Have fun!!!
