Subject:Help! Render sounds totally different!

I have a track that sounds fine when played in Acid Pro 3. However, when I render it, regardless of the format (wave, mp3), it sounds quite different - the instrument levels are all over the place.

Is there something I should know? Is there some setting I've accidentally turned on?

This usually happens when people are sending audio out to hardware mixers and/or signal processors. If this is the case for you, check to make sure that everything's routed properly on the hardware side.
