I am trying to save my multichannel (6 channels) .wav file to a stereo .wav file. I have done it in the past just by doing a Save As and then adjusting the Template using the Custom button. Today when I have tried to change it to any other format I get this message: "The custom template you selected is not valid with the current project settings. It has been filtered out of the template list." How can I save this multichannel file to a stereo file? |

Are you referring to saving a 5.1 (surround) file or mixing six discrete tracks down to two? |

I guess it is a 5.1 surround file. But yes, I am trying to get it down to two. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks! |

You really need a proper DAW to do this easily, and some degree of mixing and tweaking may be necessary. Or simplistically you could simply mute all but Front L and Front R and do your render. Maybe somebody has a script to downmix 5.1 to stereo ? geoff |

Use Process|Channel Converter. There is a preset for "5.1 Surround to Stereo" which assumes your 6 channels are layed out in the order Lf,Rf,C,LFE,Lr,Rr. If your six channels are layed out in a different order you will need to modify the preset, but you should be able to see how to do so without much trouble. Mark |
