Problems with Sony Light Rays FX

Hitime wrote on 9/9/2010, 3:30 AM
the project setting is HDV 1080-50i (1440x1080, 25.000 fps) unmodified
which is the clip property.

I apply Sony Light rays as an effect and choose the intense light rays option.
This gives the effect I want when viewed as draft in the video preview. However, when the video preview setting is changed to Best the effect totally disappears. Wierd. Effect returns when I revert to draft if video preview

The rendered clip also shows no effect.

Can anyone help me please

Yup. I noted this bug and wrote to the programmers about it back during Vegas 3.

The bug is that the intensity and length settings are based on pixels rather than on the size of the image. So, if your preview window is 320x180 and your light rays cover half the screen then the rays are about 100 pixels long. Now when the frame size becomes 1920x1080 for full resolution the 100 pixel long rays are only about 1/12 of the image instead of 1/2.

The only solution is to crank the values up as high as they'll go and hope that's enough.

Based on what you said I have a work around of sorts. What works is to change project settings to 320x180 and render at that res., then change back to HD and render it to HD. BUT THIS IS A PAIN for the amount of stuff I want to do -- must see if production assistant helps
