Had a glitch with SoundForge 8 and need to reinstall. This requires installation of .NET framework 1 and service pack. .NET Framework 1 will install but not the service pack. I used Revo uninstaller to remove all versions of net framework to start over and think this may have caused a problem. I notice that in the programs list .NET Framework 3.5 sp1 is showing up (but no net 3.5) but with no "Size" indication and the system won't let me uninstall it. I get the sense this is related to my install issues How do I get rid of this "ghost" install of .NET Framework 3.5 sp1? Running XP Pro SP2. Below is an error log that was generated when attempting to install 3.5. Thanks for all assistance. This isn't a Sony problem. Try http://support.microsoft.com and search for "reinstall .net framework" (or variants). |

"I used Revo uninstaller to remove all versions of net framework " Why? What error message were you seeing? It is normal (and often necessary) to have several versions of NET running on your system at the same time. It is not advisable to uninstall any of them, even though they take up a lot of real estate. The NET Framework falls into the category of a paradigm, rather than a single entity. One would need quite a bit more knowledge than either you or I possess, to justify messing with it, IMO. That being said, you have some registry entries hanging around that will be difficult to troubleshoot. Roll your system back to a known good restore point, restore from backup, or consider a clean install of Windows. Your Sony products allow re-installation, within a reasonable number of instances. EDIT: I see that you asked a similar question and I gave you the correct answer back in May. I've reinstalled all of my Sony apps at one time or another and never had an issue with NET. But then, I've never tried to uninstall it either. Looks like you're pretty much on your own here. ;?) Message last edited on9/30/2010 9:01:07 AM bymusicvid10. |

I see that you asked a similar question and I gave you the correct answer back in May. I've reinstalled all of my Sony apps at one time or another and never had an issue with NET. But then, I've never tried to uninstall it either. Looks like you're pretty much on your own here. That was actually a different issue, though it also involved .net framework. Yeah, I'm thinking a Windows reinstall might be the way to go, less time in the long run. I've asked in various forums and am getting nowhere. Thanks for your input. |
