Overall I love 10, but one change they made is baffling and frustrating: when dragging a selected area to the regions list, it used to immediately highlight the new region for easy naming. Now it doesn't, and finding the new region in a long list can be a nightmare. It can even create a new region with the same name as an existing region. Creating regions for export in long voiceover files is a critical part of my daily routine. Adding back in the highlight option seems like an easy fix.

Doesn't this bother anybody else?

Yes, drag should probably at least select the new row. In the meantime, there are a couple other features you may find useful.

* If you just click on the region marker, its row will be selected in the Regions List.
* Likewise, if you right-click on the marker and select Edit, the name field will be highlighted by default.
* You can also double-click slightly to the right of the region start marker to edit the name.

My personal preference:

* Enable Options->Preferences->General->"Automatically name markers and regions if not playing". Then when you make a selection, just hit 'r' ('m' for marker) and you'll be able to type right into the label area immediately.

FWIW, the "if not playing" part isn't really true. You can still do this while playing, but you might want Options->Seek Cursor on Playback disabled.

Thanks for the suggestions. The problem is that I drop markers while recording, then create regions from the sections between markers while editing. Once a region is created, its end marker then occupies the same space as the marker that will now indicate the beginning of the next region, which makes naming functions from within the timeline very cumbersome. Automatically selecting a newly created row would solve this. I have to think removing that function must have been an accidental byproduct, as I can think of no advantage to it. I do use the "Automatically name markers if not playing" function, with the one minor drawback that creating a marker requires two keystrokes even when I don't actually need to name it. I have found that the "if not playing" part really is true, as I'm not prompted for a name when dropping markers during playback.
