Why don't you finish the render, run exactly the same project and render in Vegas 9, and post back your comparison of results? Now that would be constructive.

Oh, look, Myerz is complaining AGAIN.

If you have 5G set for rendering, then there isn't much left for the operating system so it's using the page file and your computer is likely hitting the page file HARD and it's slowing everything down to a crawl.

What is "2Megbit resolution"?

Something like 2Mb/second would be a bitrate.

A resolution would be something like 1920x1080.

I'm guessing CS5 did not work out and now he's back again?

Yeah... but he has "5G set for rendering" for a "2Megbit resolution"...
(what ever the heck that means)

Ahh, the holiday season at the SCS forums has officially arrived; and once again, love is in the air!

Me, I plan to catch 40 winks . . .

", my rendering RAM allocation is set to 5100M. "

You mean the Ram Preview? That's wayyy too much. The preview RAM is only used for, preview. It takes available memory from other tasks, such as rendering or encoding. A hundred Mb is all you need. Less if you never use ram preview.

"you belittle people over terminology?"

Well, terminology is very important when you're talking about a technology like video. That kind of lets the rest of us know that you know what you're talking about.

As far as your ultimate fix, it has been discussed here many, many times before that it is critically important to keep your CPU fan free of dust as rendering is the one single activity on a computer that will generate the most heat for the longest period of time. Your CPU was throttling back its clock speed to keep from self destructing. How exactly could any of us here have known that was your problem? We all just assumed that you do the most basic of computer hardware maintenance. You're also running the stock Intel CPU cooler, upgrade to something a bit more serious.

On the subject of butchered terminology, there is no setting for "Rendering RAM allocation" in Vegas. As has been stated to you on several occasions, if you're talking about the "Dynamic RAM preview" setting", then 5100 MB is WAY too high. You don't need more RAM, you just need to use the RAM that you have correctly.

Lastly, your attitude is going to be a problem here on the forum. It makes it less likely that you will be getting much help here on this forum in the future. About two or three times a year someone like you comes along and causes trouble. Most of them end up getting banned from the forum and then it goes back to the pleasant exchange of quality information for which this forum is known.
