Subject:Slave to Acid

Hi,

I wish to slave Logic Audio to Acid using Midi Clock but am confused how you do this.

If I set 1 port of my Motu Micro Express to transmit Midi Clock, Acid seems to send the Clock to all of the ME's ports.

Seems like it should only send to the port I specify?

Also, if I try to install the SF VirtualMidiRouter I can't disable its output in Logic, so Acid tells me the device is in use when I try to use it for Midi Clock.

Any advice would be appreciated

TIA and Regards

M

I'm a little confused about what you did here...
Are you making a setting on your MOTU or within ACID?

You need to make your port settings within ACID. Go to the Sync page and select the MIDI Clock device you prefer. I'm not sure how the MOTU shows up in ACID... but if there should be multiple port choices available.

Yes, ACID should only send MIDI Clock out of the specific port that you specify.

>Also, if I try to install the SF VirtualMidiRouter I can't disable its output in Logic, so Acid tells me the device is in use when I try to use it for Midi Clock.

That has to do with the way that Logic works. When Logic is open it grabs all the available ports and holds them for use. You can get around this by opening ACID first and setting it up for whatever MIDI sync/playback you need. Then open Logic. Yep, it's a bit of a drag but at least there is a way around the problem.

Hope that helps.
Happy mixing!

Jenn,

Thanks for replying.

Acid.

There are, and I tick port 4 only.

Still doesn't, even with 3.0b

Logic has Win.ini entries for disabling ports, but when I do this the VMR port is still in use according to Acid.

I'm sure I tried it this way. I'll play around with it some more.

For the moment I'm hard-wiring Motu Out 4 to an AWE64Gold In and that seems to work.

You have to configure the Micro Express to not send MIDI Clock to all outputs.

The Micro Express Console pannel permits you to say how MIDI Clock or MTC get routed to all the ports. I believe that by default, MIDI Clock and MTC are sent to all ports regardless of which port it comes from.

Peter,

Thanks for the reply.

I'd say you're 100% on the button there and I should have checked Logic to see if it behaved the same as Acid, which it does. In fact I can't get the MOTU to re-route clock as it should so I mailed their support.

Thanks again
