Get this!
I can work no problem in Acid 3.0b, as long as I don't let the timeline (correct term? the line that moves along the tracks as the song plays) go past the end of the project.
If I do... The BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!!
ERROR:OE:0028:C00587C9
There are no system hangs in Acid apart from that.
I tried it four or five times, about 5 seconds after the project finshes...blue screen.
No reboot needed, just press enter, and I'm back to the desktop with Acid shut down.
At the time I'm running 15/512MB.
As I was writing this post, I went back to Acid and extended a loop past the point where it would happen.
Everything was fine as long as the timeline was in the project, no blue screen.

System specs:

AMD 850 Athlon T-Bird
Chaintech 7AJA Motherboard
512 Ram
20 Gig Maxtor HDD- 16.5 used, 3.5 available
Turtle Beach Montego Quadzilla sound card- latest driver
3dfx VooDoo 3 2000- latest (and last) driver

Any ideas?
Thanks

Reinstall, But after you uninstall, Delete the "Acid 3.0" Directory (You can backup your project files first if they're in that directory), And also delete the "Sonic Foundry Setup/Acid 3.0" directory.
Then do a reinstall with no background programs open.

Another thing is make sure you have the latest video card drivers installed.

So try that and see what happens.

Hey Rockit..
As I mentioned, the video card has the last driver from 3dfx, which is now history. Fortunately, it supported DirectX 8.
I've tried other things since the last post.
-If I loop my project, so the timeline doesn't go past the end, it's fine.
-If I extend a loop past the point it jammed, it's fine.
-If I extend a loop past the point it jammed, and let the timeline continue after this loop, it's fine.
-Finally, this problem only occurs in one particular project. I tried 3 or 4 others, no problem.
TOO WIERD!!
Also, I did do a complete uninstall/re-install.. still happens.

What do you thing, chalk it up to good old " shit happens" ?

Thanks for the input.

I'm back.
Tried a couple other things, who knows this might help someone later.
I opened up Acid and loaded my .acd-bak project. Then I saved it as a .acd-zip. I then reduced the Acid window and opened up another Acid window, selected copy from the edit taskbar (after using "select all"), then I selected paste in the second Acid taskbar. Well, it happened again, so it's not a problem with the format.
However, using "select all" again, I shifted the entire project over about 10 seconds.
Problem solved!!
The timeline will go past the project a couple seconds, and then return to where it started (whether the beginning or anywhere else I started playback).

I can only think of this as a glitch. Maybe having to do with the command telling the timeline to stop after so many seconds and return to the start point.
I don't know, I'm just guessing.

Hello,

That is really strange. You should submit that project file to tech support for testing if you have DSL.

Good Luck, Rockit
