Removed a Creative X-Fi sound card from my system and now SF 10.0c wont shut-up about it when I fire it up. It says something to the effect of that it can't find a Creative ASIO sound device even though I uninstalled the Creative sound card drivers and software and the default audio device in SF 10 is something completely different. Is there a config file or ini file I can edit in SF so it wont scan for this card anymore? |

Unfortunately the uninstall routine for the Creative drivers leaves things behind that it ought to remove. Probably in your case it is a registry entry. If so, you can find instructions on how to resolve the situation in the Knowledgebase here. Mark |

I'll assume you've re-booted from a full shut-down? You could try: - A registry cleaning application. I have used "Piriform CC Cleaner" and "TweakNow RegCleaner 2011" without issues. - Search the registry and manually remove any leftover entries of the Creative X-Fi sound card software... however this is VERY RISKY AND NOT RECOMMENDED by anyone other than a user with advanced knowledge of the registry and full registry back-up. - The only other option I can think of at the moment is to re-install the Creative X-Fi sound card drivers and uninstall using a third-party uninstall utility like REVO uninstaller... Removing the Creative sub-key under the ASIO key resolved it. Thanks Mark. |
